Solar Roof Box – Epic Space and Ultimate Power for Your Boat

I have seen a lot of solar roof boxes on the canal, and I honestly think few compare to the quality and ergonomic excellence of hours. This is another product that comes out of years of producing one offs, all condensed into an idealised solar roof box that is durable, attractive and very functional.

Roof Box with a solar panels

Available in a choice of woods, this box comes with a high quality Victron solar panel fitted as standard. As a boater, you know you are in safe hands with Victron products and this is going to provide plenty of power on sunny days to run a host of power needs.

Not only are you getting the benefits of the solar power, you effectively have your own mini roof shed. Somewhere to store those items that you can’t make room for inside. These will help you tidy up and organise your roof.

Solar Roof Box Features

Some key features of the boxes are the hinges and the internal locking stands. Built with opera hinges, a loose pin hinge that can easily be taken apart then fixed back together, it is easy and secure to open the box from either side. So whichever way you moor up that evening, you are going to be able to access anything you need.

The solar panel lids have locking legs, again functioning in box direction. These not only hold the lids up, but with their unique locking design you can safely leave the panels angled to maximise catching those rays, sure in the knowledge the wind won’t knock them down (though we don’t advise this in storms!!)

The pine box is the most economical. Treated timber, this can be finished in your choice of oil, varnish or paint. Alternatively, we can offer a full range of custom finished if you get in touch.  The cedar and Iroko variants are a little more luxurious and offer incredible durability as well as rot resistance, ideal for longevity in all seasons. The cedar and Iroko both come as either bare, or with two coats of oil (osmo uv protect on the cedar and gold star teak oil on the Iroko).  They are both beautiful timbers and a gorgeous addition to any roof space.

If you have any additional needs, say adding locks or additional security, or perhaps you want to use different panels or even provide your own, then just get in touch, and we will be happy to help.
